Weekend @ Lake Wanachee

This weekend we are enjoying our time at the lake. I have named our lake - Lake Wanachee and it sounds best if you say Wanachee with some nasal to it. Well, that's just the way I like it anyway. The kids rented tubes from the rental hut and Lar and I were able to find recliners by the shore line. We all enjoyed a picnic lunch in the Spring sun.
The water level rose over 14 feet in the last two days. It is the highest its been in the year we have lived here. It looks like it has reached its high point this afternoon and as gone down an inch or two. No rain in the forecast for the next few days. Nothing to worry about - but every reason to enjoy it.

Rescue on the Raging River...

Super Hero Nick and his trusty side kick Amazing Alli came to the rescue this morning. The victim?!.... my favorite chase lounge stranded on what is now an island watching the raging river rise. Can they do it, will they face their fears and make it to the island in time to tie off Marvelous Mama's chaise to the nearest tree?.... Darling Dixie and Smooch the Pooch watched with baited breath. (trust me on the breath thing - its bad). Tune in to the following two hair raising posts to find out!!! Da - Da -Daaaaa (sung in a low voice, with the last Daaaa held for affect.)

Up Up and Away

Today has been a very exciting day to be sure!!! Lar had a check ride scheduled out of the Picayune airport. The helicopter flew in from Galliano this morning to pick him and head to Gulfport for the check ride. Cliff and Carol and Alli and Nick and I went out to the Airport to watch him take off and see the helicopter. We didn't know that he had gotten the okay to take us for a ride when they got back. We went home for a bit then picked Makayla up from school early and headed back to the airport to meet up with him when they came back in. It is a super cool helicopter - S61 - I believe. We got to take a bunch of pictures and just loved getting to see Picayune from above.

Birds eye view

Our ride took us over Cliff and Carol's house. Then on to our neighborhood and right over our house. From there down the road just a bit to fly by Makayla'a school. Class was still in session so Makayla is hoping they heard the Helicopter go over. Her class mates knew she was leaving early to go on a ride with her Dad. She was all SMILES!

Fun in the Sun

We are having a great time getting out and enjoying the warm Spring weather. Don't know if its here to stay but we plan on enjoying it to the max while we can. We got out a large tarp the other day and squirted a bunch of dish soap on it - for maxium slide - and turned the sprinkler on. The kids had fun slip sliding away and kept cool at the same time. Im not quite ready to fun and jump and throw myself onto the inter tube. At 44 you need to play it a little safe. I kept cool from the sprinkler and had fun taking pictures.

Strolling with Little Makayla

Today has been such a glorious day that the kids and I keep saying it feels like Saturday. Cindy, the kids 4H leader, called this morning to see if I would watch her little Makayla - 9 months old - during the 4H meeting. We hold our monthly meetings at The Crosby Arboretum. It is such a pretty place with trails leading all over and signs to tell you all about the plants and landscape. I was all too happy to volunteer to push Makayla around in her stroller and enjoy the flowers and scenery. It is 70 degrees today with a nice spring breeze so you know I was in outdoor heaven. I was talking to her and owing and ahing over all the flowers. I told her how it had been 15 years since I pushed my little Makayla around in a stroller. She laughed at me some and cryed some too. But eventually the bump bump bump of the stroller along the path lulled her to sleep. After the meeting we met up with everyone and helped plant some flowers in the butterfly garden that our club is sponsoring at the Arboretum. Thank you Lord for the beautiful day and the chance to play with a baby that isn't mine. And we thank you for the friends that the kids have made this year since we moved here!!! So many things to give thanks and praise for!!!
